Dance, Dance, Dance
The World Championships event is filled to the brim with dance activities for everyone whether you're interested in line dancing, couples dancing, country, swing, hustle, social dancing, watching the competitions or pure dance entertainment. No other 'country' dance event comes close to the size and complexity of the UCWDC World Championships. So for days that begin early and last well into the night, dancers and spectators alike will have the opportunity to witness a tremendous variety of competitions in numerous dances categories for all ages and ability levels - all where World Championship Titles are at stake. In addition to the many competitions, there will also be many social dance segments when dancers can gather, socialize, and compare notes on the many exciting events taking place throughout the five full days.

Spectators, Welcome to the party!
There is a lot to watch as the top competitors in the world battle it out for the title “World Champion” . Also for spectators will be great open dancing, shopping the many vendors, visit the sites and sounds of Nashville, hang out at the Wild Horse Saloon or head to the huge outlet mall just a block walk from the hotel. There is a lot of fun to be had.

Line Dancers…
Because so many line dancers attend the Worlds event from all over the globe, we've made sure there will always be something for you to do. A dedicated open lobby area with a large dance floor will provide open dancing and occasional line dance lessons throughout the days with some of the Worlds' most popular line dance deejays and instructors. Nightly social dancing will be held in the Presidential Ballroom. Line dance workshops will be on-going each day providing learning opportunities for the 'latest/greatest' dances. Some of these classes will be 'extra fee' classes - see the "dance workshops" section for more specific information. And then there's the wide variety of Line Dance Competitions that begin on Thursday with any required preliminary rounds of competition and culminate in the highest divisions for Crown and Super Stars on Sunday night. Please note: due to the schedule conflicts at past Worlds events, a new and hopefully improved schedule has been established that should prevent any significant conflicts between line, pro am, and couples competitions

Couples and Pro Am…
As couples competition continues to raise the bar each year, and Pro Am continues to grow in size, these segments of the Worlds event will again bring a new level of excitement and entertainment for all to enjoy. Some of the couples divisions may require a preliminary round on Thursday. The couples and pro am divisions have been carefully scheduled throughout the event to hopefully avoid conflicts with other contests where contestants could be competing in more than one dance format. The social side of Worlds will offer couples dancing in multiple venues as time and space allows. With so many formal activities, there is seldom an opportunity other than late night for social dancing unless you might choose to forego the contests and shows. If that is the case, there will be rooms, times, floors and deejays available for your social dancing pleasure - all within our very busy schedule of events. One ballroom will generally be dedicated to swing, hustle and night club dancing, while another ballroom will feature more traditional country couples dancing. With so much to do, the choices may not always be easy!

Teams…
Each year the teams' competition becomes more entertaining as the groups strive to be more creative and more competitive. A certain camaraderie always seems to emerge among the teams and this year will be no exception; we're providing them center stage on Monday evening for their Cabaret Competition. This is always a highlight of the Worlds event and should not to be missed by anyone!

Swing and Hustle…
The UCWDC has responded to the popularity of both Swing and Hustle by including these dances in a separate Pro Am competition. This contest will feature relaxed rules with contemporary swing and hustle music (no hats or boots for this one). Just bring your favorite outfit and your favorite pro. While routines are allowed, the judges will be watching for superior lead and follow dancing skills. Also, for the first time at Worlds, we're introducing couples Strictly Swing contests for Novice, Intermediate, Advanced and Pro Divisions with our own Worlds Titles on the line. Contest rules will be similar to those used at other premier swing events around the country. In addition to the Pro Am and Strictly Swing contests, the Worlds event will again feature the Professional Swing Invitational on Friday evening in Classic and Showcase Divisions which will include some of the top competing couples from the world of swing dancing. These professionals will also be on staff providing some fabulous dance workshops during the event. For nighttime social dancing and entertainment, the Governor's Ballroom will feature primarily swing and hustle social dancing throughout the event.

Dance Workshops…
Over 100 hours of instruction will be offered covering all levels of couples, line, swing and hustle dancing from the beginner through the discerning professional level. Many of these workshops, generally the beginning level ones, will be included with the purchase of an event pass. Intermediate to advanced level classes, and specialized technique classes, will also be available for an additional charge. Our workshops will be taught by some of the most recognized dance professionals in the business. Don't miss this opportunity to learn from the best! For the best value, purchase the 5-day pass with workshops included (as many as you care to take!). This pass will be available through pre-registration only and WILL NOT be available for purchase at the event. Should you decide to not purchase the 'all inclusive' ticket through pre-registration, individual workshop tickets may be purchased at the event for $8 each. If you plan to take more than 8 classes, you'll be saving money by purchasing the 'all inclusive' pass but remember, this is available through pre-registration only. The workshop schedule will be available on the Worlds website sometime in mid-December.

The Swing and Hustle Dancing will floor you!
For the second year in a row, Worlds will feature the Worlds Swing Dance Invitational. Last year 9 of the top swing couples in the world competed for a cash purse. There will be a huge Swing and Hustle Pro Am again this year. An addition to the already fun week will be the new Just Dance divisions in Swing and Hustle. Don’t forget the Jack & Jill contests which were extremely good last year.

Vendor Faire………
If you're shopping for a new pair of dance boots, some accessory jewelry, that one-of-a-kind tie or vest or skirt or blouse…well, you get the idea! Worlds will have a shopping area to include all sorts of products and services that are of interest to dancers. In addition, the Worlds event will feature it's own country store with a huge variety of mementos from the Championships event - unique products that will be noticed when you get back home. Let's go shopping for those special gifts for someone back home, and that 'gotta havit' item that looks good on you!
